The basics to monetizing a band come down to what different ways are you currently using to bring in revenue for your music, if your only trying to sell CDs and strike lucky by getting paid for playing a gig then you're missing out on a lot of other opportunities. Discipline becomes very important for a band that wants to really make it, and revenue is a important factor in your success because with revenue you can put it back in to the band and record an album or shoot a video. Firstly let's look at your...

Having a Big Repertoire

The higher the vibrational frequency of the music the greater it is as a carrier into silence and the greater the impact on our well being. In the beginning was sound, sound is the most primordial state without, which, nothing could be! When a baby is born the first thing the medical staff look for in order to establish this new life is the baby's cry - when the baby cries all is known to be well.

Confused By Guitar Effects What Is the Difference?

Andrew Gold was born in Burbank, California in 1951, the son of two professional musicians. His mother, Marni, often provided voiceover singing for actresses in major film productions such as Natalie Wood's character in West Side Story, whilst his father was the movie soundtrack composer Ernest Gold. Safe to say that there was some musical pedigree in Andrew's family - a perfect environment for him to develop his undoubted flair for melody and his often overlooked lyrical prowess.

Ugh. This is going to be a tough one to watch.

Jaycee Dugard, the brave young woman who was kidnapped at age 11 and held against her will for 18 years, has finally agreed to sit down for her first televised interview since she escaped her captors.

The interview is expected to air sometime in July, supposedly to coincide with the release of her memoir, and as ABC was the network to secure the interview, Diane Sawyer will be conducting it.

This poor girl has such a horrific life story to share. We can't even bear to think about what she's gone through in her lifetime. Hopefully, sharing her story will help her find some peace.

What Makes Millinery a Lingering Art

There are many options for those who want to take guitar lessons. First consider the goal of taking instruction and the amount of time and money the student is willing to spend learning the craft. Next, the student will have to decide what type of lessons to take, as there are several methods of learning. There should also be some consideration of the style and genre of music to be learned.

Maria Shriver Arnold Schwarzenegger Are Dunzo!

Late yesterday the LA Times broke the very surprising news that former California governor/actor/bodybuilder/Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger and his political opposite wife Maria Shriver (of the famed Kennedy family) decided to separate after 25 years of marriage! Even tho this news came as a shock to many, it is now being reported that the couple have [...]

Here in the US we have the Got Milk? campaign … in the UK, they call it the Make Mine Milk campaign. The campaigns to get kids to drink milk may have different names but they have the same goal and the same milk’stache gimmick. In new poster artwork released in the UK this month, Green Lantern (played by Ryan Reynolds) is rockin’ the milk’stache … which you can see below.

Hal Jordan is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris, if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Hee hee … I kinda love the silliness of this campaign poster. Yes, the milk’stache looks funny on most people’s lips … but on Green Lantern, it’s just too much. I’m not sure if this kind of stuff actually gets kids to drink milk but … more power to them. What do y’all think of Green Lantern‘s love of cow juice? Are you a fan?

Paiste Cymbals

The history of Gretsch drums goes back to the 1870s, when Friedrich Gretsch left Germany for a new life in America and settled in Brooklyn. His first job was with the Albert Houdlett and Son company, making drums and banjos. At the age of 27 Friedrich opened his own shop on South 4th Street, Brooklyn, in 1883, and was also involved in the production of drums, tambourines and toy instruments for various wholesalers.

Hugh Hefner’s Wedding Invitation Revealed!

If you have the wedding blues, never fear, the grossest wedding of the year is almost here! Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris have sent out their invitations and the big day is just around the corner! Hef may have just celebrated his 85th birthday, but that has nothing on his upcoming marriage to 24 year old Crystal Harris. I thought it was a bit weird when Hef divorced his wife Kimberley Conrad. They had been married for several years, but were clearly separated for 11 years before actually divorcing. Well, it all made sense when he proposed to Crystal just a few months later. Now I am not saying she’s a gold digger, but Hef isn’t exactly in his prime. As our friends a Backseat Cuddler pointed out, her plan must be to be his widow, cause he can’t possibly offer her a lifetime of happiness. I am also kinda upset cause if anyone deserved a ring it was Holly Madison. She worked it, and seemed like she truly loved Hef. Holly has already confirmed that she will not be attending saying, “I feel like the attention should be on them. It shouldn’t be about ex-girlfriends showing up and what [...]

Late yesterday afternoon I started feeling … under the weather (I don’t dare use the “s” word) and it turns out that I continued to feel worse and worse as the night progressed. Because I have 3 nights of Prince concerts ahead of me, I wanted to make sure that I got as much rest as possible so that I could start feeling better. Emma, Josh and his cousin Steve came over to hang out for a bit … but all I could do is pop some meds and go to sleep.

As I was waiting for my medicine to kick in, I busted out my concert ticket album and box of concert memorabilia to reminisce about the amazing Prince shows I’ve seen over the years. I got one of Prince‘s picks at his concert at the Roosevelt Hotel back in 2007 and I’ve been collecting Prince tambourines since the mid-90s. I am happy to report that I’m feeling a bit better today so I will — hopefully — be in great shape for the concert tonight. I’ll need all my strength so I can bang the Hell out of my tambourine at the show tonight.

It’s gonna be a long night for me … after the Prince concert, I’m **hoping** to stay awake for the Royal Wedding. I’m gonna do my best to bear witness but … we’ll see. Happy Thursday, y’all!!

Jennifer Lopez ‘I’m Into You’ Video Debut On The Today Show

If you caught today’s episode of The Today Show then you saw the debut of Jennifer Lopez’s ‘I’m Into You’ video, which was awesome. If you didn’t never fear you can check it out right here. Jennifer Lopez proved once again that she has still got it with the debut of her ‘I’m Into You’ video. She premiered the footage earlier on The Today Show and let me just say she never ceases to amaze me with her talent and creativity. Plus the girl looks freaking amazing and has a body I would die for. Not only does the video rock but so does the song, is there anything that this chick can’t do because I am beginning to think there isn’t. J Lo certainly knows what her fans want and this is evident in not only her new songs but this new video that shows Lopez frolicking on the beach with a super hot dude. What I like best about it besides that fact that it shows that Jennifer is still one sexy mama, is the black and white shots incorporated in the color shots. I think it looks freaking great. There is sex appeal oozing everywhere and I [...]

Videotaping Your Magic Practices

In ancient times, and in various cultures, the human body and making love was admired and encouraged and was shown through paintings, sculptures, or ceramics. The genitals would often be publicly shown or would even be considerably exaggerated. The extent of the genitalia was declared a symbol of amorous authority or power in man.

The Lennon Inspired Paul McCartney Lyrics

To learn the guitar, one must know its roots and origin. Guitar history dictates that this piece of musical instrument was developed in the 12th century. Before, it was simply described as any instrument that was plucked or strummed, characterized by a long fretted neck with a flat soundboard. All guitars of those times were made of wood and did not have a universal form.

Depending on your age and musical tastes, you might've been exposed to Henry Rollins as he ground it out in punk rock titans Black Flag. Or like me, you might've been an impressionable teen, watching that "Liar" video get heavy play on MTV's Alternative Nation. I'm sure there are folks out there who only know Rollins from his books and spoken word performances, or his numerous television and film appearances. The tattooed dude with the muscles, right? Regardless, you know that guy. Almost as fascinating as the cult of personality that has grown around Henry Rollins over the years is the way he's deftly navigated a creative life, always working with a desperation that one day it could all go away-IT being the audiences, the paying public, the speaking gigs and acting opportunities. That fear is common in Hollywood, but in Rollins' case I think it has only served as motivation: to leave it on the stage every single night (whether he's speaking or screaming) and make every sentence count. One reason why I can claim I've never, ever been disappointed in Henry Rollins.

The Relationship Between Dance and Music

"The Flying Dutchman" is an opera composed by Richard Wagner which in fact was inspired by a most perilous and even illegal journey by ship which the composer once took with his first wife, "Minna Planer" from Riga (Latvia) to London (England). It being in order to escape from those whom he owed money to that Wagner decided to flee Riga; under circumstances which were made even more daring by his needing to do so without a passport. This due to having been forced to surrender his passport to the authorities, who took it on behalf of his creditors.

Welp, another Valentine’s Day is in the History books. David and decided to keep things nice and boring here at home for VD yesterday because we are planning to celebrate our 5 year anniversary on Thursday night ahead of a week-long trip to NYC next week and a 2 week-long trip to Berlin, Germany the following week. BUT, while we decided to stay home last night … we did manage to find a way to make our night in worthwhile.

Chocolate, strawberries and champagne paired with Tabatha’s Salon Take Over and RuPaul’s Drag Race and we had a perfect night together. I know, I know … a lot of other couples like to go big on VDay but it’s not what we’re really into. For the most part, David and I enjoyed one of our regular ol’ Monday nights together … which was just fine for the both of us … because we like to celebrate our lurve all year long ;)

I have to start preparing for our trip so I have a lot of laundry and packing in my evening plans for tonight. The weather has gotten gloomy here in SoCal and it’s supposed to rain. Blah. Hope it’s sunny wherever you are today ;D

Getting Started With Guitar Lessons for Free

Just because a speaker is blown or making popping sounds, does not necessarily mean that it should be junked. Many common speaker problems can be fixed with a speaker repair kit very inexpensively. For all intents and purposes the only damage which is not repairable is if an audio driver is dropped causing the basket to bend or the magnet itself to break.
